Leoncino Authentic Italian Pizzeria

Leoncino is a family owned pizzeria founded by Jimmy and his wife Sara, both coming from the Emilia-Romagna region in Northern Italy. Jimmy is also the main chef, who has learnt and perfected his skills in the prestigious Milano Marittima area in the province of Ravenna. His experience started in 2004, and since then he has been the chef at the main Italian restaurants in Ravenna. After they arrived in England in 2014, he has been the leading chef in a number of Italian Restaurants in the Manchester area.

We only use high quality imported produce direct from Italy. Our Mozzarella Fior Di Latte literally means “cream of milk” and it is a Mozzarella that has been specifically made for us – We  also use “San  Marzano” Tomatoes  that originate  from  the small  town of San Marzano sul Sarno near Naples, Italy – We hope you enjoy!

Neapolitan or Romana?

There has always been a debate between the Neapolitan pizza vs the Pizza Romana for many many years...

The Neapolitan pizza originates from Naples and is the more commonly produced pizza around the world, with its larger chewy crust and thin base. The dough is set to rise at room temperature and generally used the same day. The pizza Romana originated from Rome and isn't as well known. Some places sell it by the slice or even in a rectangular shape. It has a much thinner crunchier crust and flat base. Roman-Style dough is left to rise over several days and baked at lower temperature than the Neapolitan.
